PES was founded shortly after Chevron and Texaco chose to end further participation in the gasification and power markets following their merger and the rights to the Texaco Gasification Process were sold to a third party.

PES principals include the former Senior VP of the Texaco Power and Gasification Division and the former European Director of the Power and Gasification Division of ChevronTexaco. Other employees and consultants include former managers and supervisors of several gasification and cogeneration facilities in Europe, Asia and North America

PES has expertise in all aspects of gasification and power project development including design, ownership, operations, and financing. PES develops projects on its own and als consults to other major developers. Its clients have included NRG Energy, Shell, BP, Peabody Energy, Mittal Steel, Babcock & Wilcox, and the Southern Union Company.
